… and action!

The international classic cinema festival: 12th - 20th October 2019

Last updated date : 30/09/2019

Treasures from the archives, restored masterpieces, retrospectives, a cinema all-nighter – so many highlights for the festival audience to enjoy every year. This major event prides itself on allowing festival goers to rediscover the great film classics.
It also provides the opportunity to pay tribute to those who have devoted their lives to cinema. After Jane Fonda in 2018, this year it is the turn of Francis Ford Coppola, a 4-time Oscar winner, to receive the Lumière Award for his entire catalogue of work. This year’s distinguished guests include XXX, the South Korean director and screenwriter, who won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his film Parasite.

A brief overview of the festival’s unmissable events

Major screenings
Experience the thrill of rediscovering classic or modern screen masterpieces that made cinema history, including John Sturges’ Great Escape.
Treasures from the archives

Lumière Classics

New this year! A jury will comment on and select the year’s best restoration.

For film professionals, the MIFC (International Classic Film Market) is THE world’s leading event for those involved in the industry.

The Festival is not elitist, quite the opposite, it is open to everyone! Take, as evidence of this, the Charlie Chaplin film-concert, in the Halle Tony-Garnier, which will delight both young and old alike.

For avid fans of Francis Ford Coppola, the festival’s unmissable event is the Godfather all-nighter on 19th October, starting at 8.30 p.m. and ending at dawn.

Finally, to close the festival, don’t miss the Lumière Award ceremony. Remember to book your tickets!

The programme is packed with the wonderful surprises awaiting you at the festival.
