Hôtel de l'Abbaye
20 rue de l'Abbaye d'Ainay - 69002 Lyon 2ème
On the Presqu’île, in the Ainay district, the 4* Hôtel de l’Abbaye is an authentic and intimate destination. This boutique hotel has been refurbished, paying special attention to keeping its spirit of days gone by, like a friendly and welcoming family home.
The Hôtel de l’Abbaye, which is housed in a former Ainay presbytery, has been converted into a delightful 4* boutique hotel at the heart of the Presqu’île. Half-way between the prestigious Place Bellecour and Perrache train station, this historic location was built as a family home.
Collaborating closely at all times, the owner Arthur Laeuffer and the Lyon decorators Maison Hand wanted to showcase and modernise the building’s exceptional historic charm, providing more than twenty beautifully-decorated rooms spread over three floors, featuring both contemporary designer items and family heirloom furniture. With an uninterrupted view of the Ainay basilica, our rooms are unique and every one of our “Signature” Junior Suites comes complete with a charming corner salon.
The Hôtel de l’Abbaye café is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and its 45-seat restaurant, L’Artichaut, from Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner as well as for Sunday lunch, in an authentic and intimate setting.
Lyon’s 2nd district has a new address that’s a real “must” for visitors and locals alike.
First converted into a religious, then a state school, the former presbytery of the Abbaye d’Ainay is beginning a new life as the four-star Hôtel de l’Abbaye. The conversion has been done with respect for the original architecture. The blackboards have, however, been removed to make way for carefully chosen decorative features, sometimes second-hand and other times specially ordered from local designers.
There is no spa or fitness room, but an intimate family setting. If you don’t get a chance to stay in one of the establishment’s 20 rooms, don’t hesitate to visit the restaurant L’Artichaut, to try the bistronomic cuisine made with local, seasonal produce. There is also a lounge to have a drink or tea break with a view over the square.
A beautiful, secluded address in the heart of the Ainay district.
Julie was not born in Lyon, but she did decide to start her family here! Not that long ago, she would spend most of her evenings out at concerts... Although she has already bought ear defenders for her little 19-month-old boy, so that he can discover the joys of live rock and electronic music (soon!), she is now much more of a morning person as a mother.
