Lyon comes second in 2020 ranking of trending destinations 

The travel comparison website Kayak has released its 2020 trending destinations guide.
This edition contains new categories that are based on searches by French users of the website.
One of these categories is ‘family destinations’.
Lyon was runner-up in the ranking, behind Strasbourg and in front of Marseille. The other cities in the Top 10 for this category are Deauville, Nice, Bordeaux, Chessy, Saint-Malo, Paris and Cannes.

Lyon, 5th most green city in France

Lyon is France’s fifth most green city, according to the French website ‘Observatoire des Villes Vertes’.
This ranking is the result of a study of France’s 50 biggest cities, based on questions sent to their municipal parks and gardens departments and elected representatives, from August to October 2019.

Lyon on the National Geographic Traveller Cool List 2020

This list includes 20 destinations across the world. Lyon features alongside the likes of Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro and Tel Aviv, Vietnam and Namibia. 
Lyon is therefore marked out as one of the “most interesting destinations for 2020”, according to Pat Riddell, Editor of National Geographic Traveller (UK).

Lyon among the 50 greenest international cities according to Tourlane

Online travel specialists Tourlane put Lyon at 33rd place in its rankings of the most eco-friendly cities.
8 criteria were considered: accessibility by train, public transport, the number of cars per resident, green spaces, tourist presence, air quality, renewable energy and recycling. 
Berlin is in the top spot, ahead of Vienna and Munich. With 29 of its cities included in the list, Europe is the most-featured continent.

Lyon 2nd best student town in France according to Le Figaro Etudiant

With a large number of courses, ending in a very good employment rate for Masters graduates, but also a rich and dynamic cultural scene as well as a sunny climate, Lyon was propelled into second place in Le Figaro Etudiant’s rankings of the best French student towns for 2020.

Lyon takes second place in ranking of most popular destinations this summer

According to the latest analysis by Trainline, Lyon was the second most popular destination, behind Paris and in front of Marseille. It found that the Capital of the Gauls is very popular for short stays of less than three days. 57% of travellers come to this city nestled between the rivers Rhône and Saône for a long weekend at most. As for where tourists are coming from, Lyon is favoured by the Parisians.

Lyon takes 2nd place in the “Best Big Cities in the World 2020”

Lyon has been included in the Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Best Cities in the World rankings for the first time. The city came in second in the list of the best big cities in the world, after Kyoto and ahead of Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Helsinki, and placed 5th in the world across all categories.
